Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you so much for all those calls and emails you made recently to your State Representatives in support of House Bill 5486 for safer taxi laws in Lyndsey's name. Thanks to your efforts, House Bill 5486 passed in the House of Representatives Feb. 25, 2010.

But we are not finished...the bill must now be passed in the Senate. Last year, we were not able to get this bill passed in the House and Senate and we hope to be successful this time. Therefore, we again need your help in making a call or emailing your local State Senator to ask for his or her support of this bill. If you don't know your elected officials, go to Illinois State Board of Elections website, go to the "By address" tab and type in your address to find your State Senator.

We do not want other families or loved ones to suffer a terrible loss like ours when Lyndsey was killed by a taxi cab in Chicago. Your emails and phone calls can again make the difference in influencing the passing of this bill! Please take a minute to make a call or email your State Senator now to pass House Bill 5486 on behalf of Lyndsey. We also ask that you forward this website to everyone in your address book to increase support for the bill.

The proposed regulations in House Bill 5486 require all taxi cab drivers in Illinois to be 21 years of age or older with a valid driver's license issued in the United States for three years. The bill also states that drivers could not have been convicted of certain offenses during the last three years, including drag racing, drunk driving or vehicular homicide.
